Captain Henry Wellington Palmer, 74th Highlanders group of three medals comprising; (KCB) The Most Honourable Order of the Bath, neck badge in gold and enamel, The South African medal 1853 and the South Africa medal 1877-8 (3) Later Major General Henry Palmer CB (1828-1891) Born at Tallaght House, County Dublin the son of major James Palmer Sr. He served with the 74th Highlanders throughout the Kaffer War of 1851-1853. 1864 as major of 90th Regiment of Foot (Perthshire Volunteers). 1868 Stationed in the Punjab, East Indies, 1873 Lt Col, 1878 Major General. Commanded the Regiment from April 1873 to 1878 and retires whereupon he recieved the CB for 30 years service
