Libri rari 66. - Dritte und letzte Ausgabe dieses wohl schönsten Himmelsatlas des Barock, ohne den Drucktext der beiden vorangegangenen Ausgaben (1660 u. 1661 bei Janssonius) erschienen. Die Tafeln blieben unverändert, lediglich die Verlegeradresse von Valk & Schenk wurde in die Kartuschen eingefügt. "The origin and history of the beautiful celestial maps by Cellarius has yet to be unravelled. No other celestial atlas was ever published in the Netherlands before the 19th century" (Koeman). Besonders prächtig sind die 8 Sternkarten (Taf. 22-29) mit den figürlichen Darstellungen der Sternbilder. - Sehr breitrandiges Exemplar. Im weißen Rand verstreute Stockflecken, Kartenbilder davon weitgehend unberührt, gest. Frontispiz im Rand fingerfleckig, Drucktitel unten fingerfleckig und insgesamt leicht stockfleckig sowie im oberen äußeren Rand mit Fleck sowie mit nicht störendem Besitzvermerk, Taf. 2 unten im Bug mit kleiner Verstärkung, Taf. 6 im weißen Rand mit Leimspur, Taf. 18 unten im weißen Rand auch fleckig, Taf. 29 im weißen Rand auch fingerfleckig. Vorsätze erneuert. Third edition. - With engr. frontispiece and 29 double-page engr. maps in contemp. colouring. - Broad-margined copy, foxing to white margins of plates lightly affectig image in only very few cases, mild fingermarking to margins of engr. front., foxing and mild fingermarking to printed title, the latter also with stain to top margin and below inobtrusive ownership inscription; plate 6 with trace of paste to lower white margin, pl. 18 also stained to white margin, marginal fingermarking to pl. 29; endpapers carefully renewed. Bound in slightly later half-calf, a bit rubbed.
