First Italian edition. Based on the third edition of the original text, printed in Paris in 1540, to which were added passages from 'De insula Rhodo et militarium ordinum institutione' (Paris 1536) by the German philologist Theodoricus Adameus, a small treatise on winds and the compass by Johannes Quintinus (written in a letter to Sophus dated Messina, January 6, 1532) and a description of the island of Malta by the same (dated Malta, January 20, 1533). - Some foxing in places, slight browning, title brownstained and somewhat loose. 18th cent. vellum, some wormholes to spine.
