Ramachandran born in 1935 in Kerala is a distinguished Indian artist whose work is deeply inspired by the natural landscape and tribal life of Rajasthan particularly the Bhil villages around Udaipur. His art is known for its powerful lines rich colors and intricate decorative elements often weaving mythological themes and Indian classical influences into contemporary forms. Early in his career Ramachandran’s works explored themes of oppression and violence with fragmented headless figures reflecting societal struggles. Over time he embraced Indian archetypal imagery drawing inspiration from Kerala murals Ajanta murals and Nathadwara paintings. With several solo and retrospective exhibitions worldwide and participation in prestigious group shows his contributions to the global art scene have been recognized through awards such as the Padma Bhushan (2005) and the Raja Ravi Verma Puraskar (2003).
