John Pattison, Halifax, (fl.c. 1780-1800) A GEORGE III OAK AND MAHOGANY-CASED 30-HOUR LONG-CASE CLOCK, having a swan-neck pediment with brass concentric disc terminals flanking a ball-and-spire finial, the arched hood door between fluted columns with brass capitals, the oak trunk door with shaped arched top and central shell navette, between fluted quadrants, above inlaid bellflower pendants, the oak-panelled base on a shaped apron with integral bracket feet, the arched white painted 35.5cm, (14in) dial having a rolling moon above twin terrestrial globes, Roman hours and Arabic minutes framing subsidiary seconds and date dials, twin false winding arbours, inscribed maker's name and a pair of painted birds, the spandrels painted with flowers, 238cm, (93.7in) high
