The bird`s-eye view depicts the Matanza River, the "castle", the North and South Channel and warships in the foreground. A lengthy key and explanatory notes fill the bottom third of map. General Oglethorpe was the founder of the American colony of Georgia, which was situated as a buffer colony between Spanish Florida and South Carolina. Size includes the key and text. 6.6" W x 11.8" H A fine impression, issued folding on watermarked paper with minor extraneous creasing.
