Luther Will Raynes was born in Sheffield on 7 January 1880 and attested for the Royal Munster Fusiliers as a Boy Soldier at Cawnpore, India, on 1 May 1893. He served with the 2nd Battalion in India from the date of his attestation to 25 April 1903, and was appointed a Drummer in January 1895. Transferring to the Royal Field Artillery as a Gunnr on 1 November 1901, he returned to the U.K. on 26 April 1903, and was discharged, medically unfit, on 26 May 1903, after 10 years and 26 days’ service.
Raynes subsequently re-enlisted in the Royal Field Artillery on 13 August 1914, and was promoted Corporal on 19 December 1914. He served with the 52nd Brigade during the Great War on the Western Front from 12 May 1915 to 29 May 1916, and was promoted Sergeant on 23 May 1915. He transferred Class Z on 19 February 1919 and was finally discharged on 31 March 1920.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
Shipping Exceptions
Certain lots such as those containing glass or sharp implements, etc., may not be suitable for in-house shipping within or outside of the UK. Please contact Noonans with any queries.
