Provenance: ‘Jubilee’ Collection, Glendining’s, May 1992; An Important Collection of Waterloo Medals, Dix Noonan Webb, December 1994.

Arthur Elliot was born at Lisburn, county Antrim, and enlisted for unlimited service on 20 December 1803, aged 18 years, a farmer by trade. At Waterloo, where his regiment formed part of the 'Union' Brigade, he was severely wounded. He was discharged at Birmingham on 13 December 1817, in consequence of ‘dyspnoea [a difficulty of breathing] and bad health caused by frequent exposure to vicissitudes of heat and cold when on duty. N.B. He was wounded in both hips and thigh by a lance at Waterloo on the 18th of June 1815.’ His discharge was confirmed on 23 February 1818, and he was admitted to an Out Pension at Chelsea Hospital on the following day at a rate of 9 pence per day, increased to 1 shilling per day in October 1854.

Sold with copied discharge papers and extract from Chelsea Hospital Admissions book.

Within the UK
If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.

Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.

Shipping Exceptions
