Dupagne, Arthur (Belgian, 1895-1961), b. Liège, worked in Africa 1927-1935, returned to Belgium 1935, and Établissements Jules Fonson (Brussels, fl. 1848-1973) BELGIAN CONGO, 25e anniversaire de la mine d'or de Kilo-Moto [25th Anniversary of the Kilo-Moto Gold Mine], 1951, a bronze plaque by A. Dupagne for Fonson, African male standing by his counterpart who wears a mining helmet and holds a kanga drill, rev. two African families, edge impressed fonson, 92 x 71mm, 219.23g (Vancraenenbroeck 53; Lippens/van Keymeulen 8; cf. Heritage/MPO 76, 6097; cf. DNW 35, 653). Extremely fine £40-£50 --- This plaque also commemorates the production of 200,000 kilos of gold since the mine’s foundation in 1926. The images reflect on the status of the humble African, his family and way of life, and how industrialised mining could change that within the space of one generation. The artist himself worked as a mining engineer for Société Internationale Forestière et Minière du Congo at Tshikapa from 1927 to 1935

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
