Otto, Edmund, aka Edmund Otto-Eichwald (German, 1888-1959); b. Rixdorf ITALY/AUSTRIA, Il Sacro Egoismo Dolomiten [The Sacred Sacrifice of the Dolomites], 1916, an iron medal by E. Otto, horned goat standing left, butting a wall of rock, rev. dem grafen cadorna [To Count Cadorna], siege gun below, edge impressed ds 65 42, 56mm, 55.42g (Frankenhuis 1510; Steguweit 1998, p.142; BDM VIII, 106; cf. Höhn 96, 723). Very fine £40-£50 --- Provenance: Bt Simmons June 2013. Between 1915 and 1917 the little-known Dolomites front was bitterly fought over between Italy and Austria. Unlike the larger-scale battles, this confrontation was dictated by the mountainous landscape. Because of the challenging terrain, both countries had to rely on innovative methods of warfare and outstanding acts of bravery. Ultimately, Italian troops, under Count Luigi Cadorna (1850-1928), suffered heavy casualities and were defeated at Caporetto in October 1917

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. This service provides parcel tracking (via the Royal Mail website) and next weekday delivery (betwen 9am and 1pm). Items delivered within the UK are covered by our insurance company. Heavy and bulky lots will be sent by courier, in discussion with the client.
Outside of the UK
If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
If the item/s being sent are valued at over £1000 in total they will be sent using FedEx. This service allows next day delivery to customers in many parts of the US and parcels are fully trackable using the FedEx website.
