Airey, Highland Light Infantry, who was killed in action on 14 April 1945 1939-45 Star; France and Germany Star; Defence and War Medals 1939-45, with named Army Council enclosure ‘C. C. Airey’, extremely fine Memorial Plaque (Joseph Goss) in card envelope; together with a silver prize medal, the reverse engraved ‘The Champion Medal of the 30th. W.Y.R.V. Birstal.’, traces of verdigris to plaque, nearly very fine (6) £70-£90 --- Charles Cormack Airey served with the 10th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry during the Second World War, and was killed in action in North West Europe on 14 April 1945. He is buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany. Four men with the name Joseph Goss are recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Roll of Honour: a Sergeant in the 56th Divisional Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery; a Corporal in the 2nd Battalion, Somerset Light Infantry; a Private n the 2nd/7th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters; and a Private in the 50th Battalion, Machine Gun Corps
