Christmas card sent by Martin Luther King, Jr. and his family from the offices of the Dexter Avenue church. King Jr. was pastor of the congregation from 1954 to 1960 and organized the famous Montgomery bus boycott from the basement of the church. The front of the blue and red card wishes ''A Merry Christmas'' and shows a scene of young children singing. Printed sentiment within the card reads ''...And May The New Year Bring You Every Joy / Rev. and Mrs. Martin L. King, Jr...'' Added underneath the listing of the King's names is a handwritten addition of ''+ Yolanda Denise / 309 S. Jackson''. Yolanda Denise was the King's oldest child. Card measures 6'' x 5''. Some light creasing, else near fine. Acquired from a larger lot of items belonging to one of the workers in King's office in Montgomery.
