Royalty King George I Signed Appointment Concerning The Famous ''Regiment of Invalids'' -- From 1719 -- With JSA COA Document signed by King George I in 1719, concerning the ''Regiment of Invalids'', the 41st regiment of the British army that consisted entirely of patients who had recently been discharged from London's Chelsea Hospital. George boldly signs ''George R'' to the top of the document, which appoints Benjamin Wellington, Jr. as ensign of the regiment, then commanded by Colonel Edmund Fielding. Vellum document is countersigned by James Stanhope, the first minister of England. Measures 13.5'' x 9.75''. Light red staining to upper right from where the document was presumably folded over. Otherwise in near fine condition for a vellum document of its age. With JSA COA.
