Description
An early 19th Century oak chest on chest of two short over three long graduated drawers on a base of two long drawers, each bog oak and holly banded on pierced bracket feet, 104 cm wide x 51 cm deep x 161 cm high
CONDITION REPORTS
Replacement top. Areas of moulding missing to both sides of the top. Cracks running down the side panels. Drawer fronts have areas missing and have been patched variously. The central panel inbetween the two short drawers appears to be a replacement and the two areas of beading on the sides of the drawers appear to have been replaced on both the upper and lower section. The moulding to the base of the upper section also appears to be a replacement. Has had work on it generally through its lifetime. Losses to the inlay variously throughout. Replacement handles and locks. Drawer liners and drawer sides are split variously. Signs of old worm particularly to the backs of the drawers. There are some significant losses to the drawer sides and backs. General wear and tear conducive with age and use to include knocks, splits, bumps, filling, etc. See images for more details.
