set with rubies, rose cut diamonds and demantoid garnets forming flowers within a basket, engraved 'Maund, 11.1.06' commemorating the launch of the yacht to the reverse, unmarked and on a nine carat gold belcher chain, along with a folio of photographs and artefacts from the S.Y Maund steamer ship, including one of Mrs Scott wearing the necklace, Sir and Lady Singer and a collection of photographs showing the interior and exterior design of the yacht from the naval architects of the vessel, Cox & King
The screw steamer 'Maund' was built in 1906 for Sir Adam Mortimer Singer, KBE, JP. An Anglo-American landowner, philanthropist and sportsman, he was also one of the earliest pilots in the United Kingdom and France.
Adam Mortimer lived the life of an wealthy English gentleman of his times. Married in 1888 to Mary Maund, he affectionately named his prized yacht after his wife.
Inherited from an aunt, the current vendor recalls the journey of this pendant.
