Note: Artist, born in Scotland, who studied at Glasgow School of Art, 1955–60, taught by Alex Dick, David Donaldson, Mary Armour and Benno Schotz. She was a figurative painter, in the Scottish Colourist tradition, with strong poetic and symbolic elements. In 1988 Bond made a trip to India which opened up new visual channels and gave her the opportunity to work on handmade paper. In 1992 she took part in a summer sculpture workshop in Tuscany; 1993 brought journeys to Yucatan, Mexico, and Urbino in Italy; and in 1994 she had a painting residency at Annaghmakerrig, the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, in Ireland. Among her awards was the Anne Redpath Award, 1984; Crawford Arts Centre Special Award, St Andrews, 1987; and an English Speaking Union scholarship, 1994. Was elected a professional member of SSWA in 1975, later a council member; a member of the Dundee Printmakers’ Workshop, 1987; and in 1989 member of both RSW and SSA. Showed at RSA regularly from 1983. Showed solo with Open Eye Gallery, Edinburgh, from 1984, Thackeray Gallery from 1992. Edinburgh University, Perth Art Gallery and Art in Hospitals hold examples.
