MEDAL GROUP AND ARCHIVE, ACTING SUB-LIEUTENANT ALFRED SALISBURY, comprising the Atlantic Star, The 1939-1945 Star, and the 1939-1945 War Medal with oak leaf (signifying mention in despatches), also with certificate of issue, Fleet Air Arm bullion cap tally, wings patch, silver and enamel brooch, and Sub-Lt. epaulette, further docments including details relating to his service and Airmen of H.M.S. TrumpeterNote: KIA 10th August 1944, operating from light fleet carrier H.M.S. Trumpeter. Operated Avenger Mk.I at this time, mine laying operations off Norway. Copied documents includes that detailing Operation Offspring, 'Description of Services for which Officer or Man is recommended. For skill and determination in an Avenger minelaying striking force on the Norwegian coast in the face of considerable anti-aircraft opposition. Acting as Radar Guard, this Observver had been of great assistance in conning the force to its target.', Posthumous Mention in Despatches,
