Gaetano Zompini (Nervesa 1700 - Venezia 1778) Lefte incontra la figlia Olio su tela 63 x 79 cm L’opera trova riscontro con la tela di medesimo soggetto passata il 28/01/2005 presso Christie’s New York, lotto n.233, ove la figura della giovane che va incontro al padre risulta essere identica. Lo stesso impianto compositivo lo ritroviamo in Esther sviene davanti ad Assuero, della Scuola Grande dei Carmini, a Venezia. Gaetano Zompini giunse a Venezia diciasettenne e frequentò la bottega di Nicolò Bambini, anche se la sua fonte d’ispirazione fu Sebastiano Ricci, del quale cercò di imitare lo stile. Negli anni ’30 e ’40 la sua attività fu legata alle commissioni chiesastiche veneziane e del trevigiano, anche se progressivamente si dedicò a inventare soggetti per acqueforti. We could find the same compositional layout in Esther faints before Ahasuerus, at the Scuola Grande dei Carmini, in Venice.
