George III Silver Soup Tureen & Cover  with London (1808) hallmarks, ""WB"" maker`s mark within a rectangular punch, circular form with ribbing to mid-section raised on a stepped foot with wide gadrooned border, the gadrooning repeated on rim of body and on domed cover, the cover with acanthus motif looped handle, applied handles to body. The cover engraved with the Legard family coat of arms featuring the latin motto ""Per Crucem Ad Strilas (sic)"" and the body with engraved ""H"" beneath a greyhound crest. 

12.75 x 14.5 in. 

123.05 total troy oz. 

Estate of the Late Dorothy G. Hale & Co., Chicago, IL and by descent.  Some minor dings and scratches.
