Anfang der 49. Sure, al-Hujurat, mit den Versen 1-9. Auf chamoisfarbenem orientalischem gewachstem Papier. Ägypten, um 1300-1350. Textgr. 11 x 8 cm, Blgr. 18,4 x 13 cm.
Überschrift der Sure ist in vergoldetem Thuluth, Text in schwarzer Tinte in Naskh, mit goldenen Rosetten zu den Vers-Trennungen. Die großen Medaillons in Gold, Blau und Rot mit Kufi-Inschriften. - Dieses Blatt entstammt demselben Koran, von dem 5 Teile bei Boisgirard in Paris am 28./29. April 1997 versteigert wurden, ein weiterer Teil kam 1999 bei Sotheby's zur Auktion. - Gering gebräunt, sauber und wohl erhalten. - It is the beginning of the sura 49, al-Hujurat with the verses 1-9 on chamois coloured paper. The heading of the sura is in golden Thuluth, framed with a wispy arabesque of blossoms in blue and red. Below it there are four or five text lines written in Naskh with black ink. Rosettes in gold with additional decoration in blue and red, mark the verse separations. The large marginal medallions in gold, blue and red with kufi writing inscription. Measures: Text area: 110 x 80 mm, sheet size: 184 x 130 mm. Egypt, about 1300 to 1350. Condition: Little box pleat and traces of an old mounting, otherwise in very good condition. Comment: This leaf originates from the same Qur'an from which five parts have been auctioned on 28th/29th April 1997 at C. Boisgirard in Paris (catalogue-nr. 55 A-E) and a further part came up for auction on 14th October 1999 at Sotheby's in London (catalogue-nr. 11).
