An English sterling silver tea service, Barnard, London, the teapot and double-handled waste bowl date marked 1820, with makers mark of Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard; the later milk jug date marked 1831, with makers mark of Edward, Edward Jr., John and William Barnard; comprising; a teapot (5.25`` H x 11`` W), a waste bowl (4`` H x 8`` W), and a milk jug (3.75`` H x 6`` W); each repousse-decorated with floral and foliate bands and gadrooned borders, with later gilt wash, 3 pcs, gross weight: 48.2 oz troy tw approximately Note: The long-lived firm of Barnard was founded circa 1680 by Anthony Nelme, and underwent many changes of ownership over the years until it became a subsidiary of Padgett & Braham Ltd. in 1977. From 1796 Edward Barnard I served the firm as a manager, and after owner John Emes` death in 1808, became partner alongside Emes` wife Rebecca. After she withdrew in 1829 he became proprietor, along with his sons Edward Barnard II, John Barnard, and William Barnard, trading under the name Edward Barnard and Sons
