Brass hood with round sight glass on the rear side, a hinged lid, lateral burner and two grips
Compass with water in cardanic hanging in the inner of the pedestal
The brass case flanked with two color painted adjustable compensating spheres
Another analyzer on the rear side of the pedestal
Three closed cases with ring grips for the storage of further nautical instruments

Age-related condition
The historical compass binnacle ‘Sestrel’ is a magnificent example of a nautical navigation instrument for sailing yachts and boats

Condition:

The compass binnacle is in age-related condition with traces of wear and age. The wooden pedestal shows scattered holes, indentations as well as material losses in places. One piece of the wooden wall is loose. The brass hood shows partial small and large dents. One handle on one lid of the brass hood is loose. The spheres showing partial color and material losses. The sheet of the outer analyzer is exfoliated. The height of the compass binnacle measures 141 cm. (ala)

Das Kompasshaus ist in altersgemäßem Zustand mit Gebrauchs- und Alterungsspuren. Vereinzelt finden sich im Holzgehäuse Löcher, Einkerbungen sowie stellenweise Materialfehlstellen. Ein Stück der Wandung des Holzgehäuses ist locker. Die Messinghaube zeigt partiell kleine und große Dellen. Ein Griff am Blendendeckel ist locker. Die Kugeln zeigen partiell Farb- und Materialfehlstellen. Das Blatt des äußeren Messgerätes ist abgeblättert. Die Höhe des Kompasshauses misst 141 cm. (ala)
