Condition:
The painting is in good condition consistent with the age. The varnish is darkened and tiny craquelé can be seen overall on the canvas. There are areas with very little scuffing due to the frame along the upper edges and corners of the canvas and scattered marks can be seen. There are two tiny holes in the middle of the lower edge. The painting has been skillfully repaired. Several retouched spots can be seen on the canvas.The frame is in good condition with traces of usage. The dimensions are 55 x 81 cm and the frame measures 68.5 x 95 cm.

Franz Emil Krause (c. 1836-1900)
Franz Emil Krause was born in Berlin. He specialized in landscape and marine painting and started to exhibit at the Berlin academy exhibitions in 1879. His favorite subjects were landscapes in Schleswig, rocky beaches and coastlines as well as English and Dutch impressions of nature. Krause died at the age of about 64 in Cornway, Wales. (msc)

Zustand:
Das Gemälde ist altersgemäß in einem guten Zustand. Der Firnis ist gebräunt und die Farbschicht zeigt insgesamt feines Craquelé. Die Ränder der Leinwand weisen minimale rahmungsbedingte Bereibungen auf und es sind vereinzelt Flecken zu sehen. Am unteren Rand in der Mitte sind zwei minimale Löcher zu sehen. Das Gemälde wurde fachmännisch restauriert. An mehreren Stellen sind Retuschen zu sehen. Der Rahmen ist in einem guten Zustand mit Alterungs- und Gebrauchsspuren. Die Maße betragen 55 x 81 cm und der Rahmen misst 68,5 x 95 cm.

Franz Emil Krause wurde in Berlin geboren. Er war auf Landschafts- und Marinemalerei spezialisiert und stellte ab 1879 auf den Berliner Akademie Ausstellungen aus. Zu seinen bevorzugten Motiven zählten Landschaften in Schleswig, felsige Strände und Küstenabschnitte sowie englische und holländische Natureindrücke. Krause starb im Alter von etwa 64 Jahren in Cornway, Wales. (msc)
