Keith Haring (1958 1990)

Born in Pennsylvania in 1958, Keith Haring started studying advertising, but then went on to study art at the School of Visual Arts in New York. During his studies he was highly influenced by the street art that was ever present wherever he would go. In the 1980s he focused on street art and painted walls in cities all over the world, such as Sydney, Rio de Janeiro and most of all New York. It was not until 1985 that Haring started incorporating canvas into his work. Keith Harings works can be found in some of the most famous collections world-wide. (fea)

Keith Haring (1958-1990)

In den 1970er Jahren studierte der US-amerikanische Künstler Keith Haring Werbegrafik in Pittsburgh. Als er 1978 nach New York zog, studierte er an der School of Visual Arts und ließ sich durch das so genannte Graffiti-Writing inspirieren. Bekannt wurde er durch Kreidezeichnungen auf Werbetafeln in den U-Bahnen von New York. In den 1980er Jahren stellte er auf der Documenta aus und freundete sich mit Andy Warhol an. Er bemalte Wände in verschiedenen Städten in Nord- und Südamerika sowie in Australien und begann 1985 mit dem Bemalen von Leinwänden.
