WRIGHT ORVILLE: (1871-1948) American Aviator who, with his brother Wilbur, invented and built the world's first successful airplane and made the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight on 17th December 1903. A good original 9.5 x 12 pencil drawing of Wright by an amateur artist, M. H. Herrin, the accomplished image depicting the aviator in a head and shoulders pose. Signed ('Orville Wright') in bold black fountain pen ink with his name alone to the lower border. Also signed in pencil by the artist to the lower right corner and dated 1935 in his hand. Neatly mounted. A few very minor, light creases, otherwise VG £250-350
