CURIE MARIE: (1867-1934) Polish Physicist & Chemist, famous for her pioneering research on radioactivity. Nobel Prize winner for Physics (1903) and for Chemistry (1911), the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, and the only person to win in multiple sciences. Rare D.S., M. Curie, one page, 4to, Paris, 31st July 1928. The partially printed carbon document, Certificate number 5486, is issued by the Institut du Radium, Laboratoire Curie, and is an assessment of radiation obtained from some apparatus tested between 23rd - 31st July 1928, stating that ‘The radiation y of the apparatus is compared to the radiation Y of the radium standard of this laboratory’ and that the apparatus examined only reached a negligible amount of radiation, recording a Radium element of 2.57 mg. Signed by Curie at the foot in her capacity as Director of the Laboratory. Two file holes to the left edge and some light, minor age wear to the edges, VG
