PICASSO PABLO: (1881-1973) Spanish Painter, a co-founder of the Cubist movement. A.N.S., Picasso, one page, oblong 8vo, n.p. (Paris), n.d. (November/December 1948), in French. Picasso`s bold blue ink note is penned across the verso of a printed invitation card issued for the opening of the Vallauris Pottery exhibit of Madoura, Suzanne and Georges Ramie, at the Galerie de l`Arcade, 30th November 1948. Picasso requests that Mr. Soler be admitted into the Picasso Ceramics exhibition at any time he wishes. An attractive example. VG

Picasso spent the later stages of his career making and painting ceramics at the Madoura Pottery in Vallauris on the French Riviera. It was here that he met Jacqueline Roque (1927-1986) who worked as a saleswoman for Madoura. Picasso married Roque, his second wife, at Vallauris on 2nd March 1961 and the artist spent the rest of his life with her. Roque was a frequent model for Picasso, who created more than 400 portraits of her.
