A CASED 18-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED W. NICOL, EDINBURGH, mid-19th century, with 30 1/4in. rebrowned twist barrels signed 'W. NICOL. EDINBURGH' on the rib (fore-sight missing), patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug and engraved with a shell on the rib, scroll engraved long tang and signed back-action locks, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, scroll engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon engraved with crest and motto, and original brass-mounted ramrod with worm, London proof marks, in relined fitted mahogany case with reproduction trade label of W. Nicol.
