A 14-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN BY WESTLEY RICHARDS, LONDON, serial no. 9785, circa 1850, with 30in. twist sighted barrels signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS 170 NEW BOND ST. LONDON' on the rib, scroll engraved patent breeches each with pierced platinum plug, scroll engraved tang and signed locks, the latter retaining traces of original case-hardened finish, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, scroll engraved iron mounts including trigger-plate with pineapple finial, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass mounted ramrod, probably original (iron parts discoloured with some scattered spots of corrosion).
