A PAIR OF GERMAN 50-BORE SILVER-MOUNTED FLINTLOCK PISTOLS BY T.W. PISTOR, late 18th century, 12in. overall, with swamped etched twist barrels (some light surface corrosion) each with sighting flat, silver spider fore-sights, iron tangs each incorporating the rear-sight, signed flat bevelled locks (one steel replaced) each engraved with rococo ornament on the stepped tail and cock, moulded figured walnut full stocks each carved in relief with foliage behind the barrel tang and in front of the trigger-guard, silver mounts including trigger-guards engraved with rococo ornament, horn fore-end caps, and original horn-tipped ramrods. Footnote: T.W. Pistor is recorded in Schmalkalden between circa 1775 and 1810.
