Owner’s bookplate on the half title «Bibliotheque de San Donato».The biography of Akinfiy Nikitich Demidov (1678-1745) - the founder of the mining industryin the Urals and Siberia, the most famous manufacturer of the Demidov family, was performedby the founder of the Demidov prize P. N. Demidov. In order to ‘calculate the benefits broughtby the Demidovs to the Fatherland’ not only through the development of iron and copper plants,the author collected materials about their scientific and charitable activities. One of sections isdevoted to personal life of the manufacturer, circumstances of his heritage devision between histhree sons after his death and activities of his descendants, mostly his younger son Nikita andhis family line.Provenance: the Library of San - Donato is associated with the names of three representativesof the Demidov family, each of whom left his traces on the books of the library. Its core wasthe library of Pavel Nikolayevich Demidov (1798-1841). After his death, the books were inheritedfirst by his brother Anatoly Nikolaevich (1812-1870), who took them to the Italian estateof San-Donato; and then by the direct heir, son-Pavel Pavlovich (1839-1885), who obtained anofficial right to bear the title of Prince of San-Donato in Russia. Один из разделов посвящен личной жизни заводчика,обстоятельствам осуществленного после его смерти раздела владений между тремясыновьями и деятельности потомков, преимущественно по линии младшего сынаНикиты.Провенанс: Библиотека Сан-Донато связана с именами трёх представителей фамилииДемидовых, каждый из которых оставил на книгах библиотеки свой след. Её ядросоставила библиотека Павла Николаевича Демидова (1798-1841). После его смертикниги унаследовал сначала его брат Анатолий Николаевич (1812-1870), который увёз ихв итальянское имение Сан-Донато; а затем и прямой наследник, сын – Павел Павлович(1839-1885), получивший официальное право носить в России княжеский титул Сан-Донато.
