COLUMBIA, ILLINOIS A FULL HUNTER SILVER POCKET WATCH the round white enamel dial having Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial at VI o'clock and blued steel spade hands, the movement having a lever escapement and signed to the backplate 'Columbia, Springfield, Ill, 341749', the inside of the case stamped with the case number '301755', casemaker's name 'Dueber' and 'Coin' as the silver mark, diameter 58mm. * The Columbia (Columbus) Watch Company of Illinois succeeded Gruen and Savage who originated in 1876. * The Dueber watch case business started prior to 1886 when it became part of the Hampden Watch Company operating from Canton, Ohio in 1888.
