A crossbanded mahogany longcase clock, second quarter 19th century, the arched hood with broken scroll pediment above a glazed door flanked by turned pilasters enclosing a 13" painted enamel dial with Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and date dials and marked indistinctly 'Newcastle', painted with a peacock and roses in the arch and to the corners, eight-day movement striking on a bell above a cushion moulding, an ogee arch top, three-quarter length trunk door flanked by half pilasters and further cushion moulding, the base board also flanked by pilasters, 87" high
