Lady Catherine Maria Arbuthnott daughter of Rev. C. Eustace: m.1827, Admiral Sir Alexander Dundas Young Arbuthnott, K.C.B, (1789-1871)
In 1827, Arbuthnott married in Kildare Catherine Maria ("Mary") Eustace (born about 1806 in Ireland; still alive in 1891 living in Sheepy Magna, Atherstone, Leicestershire), third daughter of Rev. Charles Eustace and descendant of the Viscounts Baltinglass. They had a daughter, Josette Eliza Jane Arbuthnot (born about 1829 in France; died 12 January 1909; married Major Frederick Wollaston).

Josette Eliza Jane (Arbuthnot) Wollaston (abt. 1829-1909). She married Frederick Wollaston on Monday, 15th April 1850, at Clungunford, County Salop (now Shropshire), the ceremony being performed by his father the Rev. Henry John Wollaston.

From 1825 to 1843 he was in 6th (Inniskilling) Dragoons, retiring with the rank of major. In 1853 he was appointed Sheriff of Leicestershire. He became a Knight Commander of the Order of St John in 1857. In 1873 the landed estate of the Wollastons of Shenton was returned as no more than 122 acres with an estimated rental of £330 a year. But the actual landed property amounted to 2,300 acres.

***CONDITION REPORT***Lady Catherine with one small white mould spot above her head, otherwise good condition. Inscribed on the frame 'Catherine, Lady Arbuthnott Grandmother of Catherine A L. Hanmer, Died Feb 11th 1892'.
Josette Eliza in good untouched condition. Frame not inscribed, identity of the sitter is by repute.
Both in silver gilt frames hallmarked for 1907.
Sheepy Lodge is now a guest house.

Please note that due to the withdrawal of the Retail Export Scheme by HMRC, we are unable to provide VAT refunds documentation for hand-carried exports. In order to qualify for a VAT refund, your lots must be exported by a shipper
and valid exportation documentation must be provided.

PAYMENT TERMS
Payment is required by Wednesday 19th of June by debit card, BACS, Worldpay and cash (subject to money laundering regulations). Please note we do not accept credit cards or American Express.

BOOK A COLLECTION
Collection is by appointment only. You need to book a collection time by 4pm the previous day. Visit the website or follow the link on your invoice to book a collection time. Purchases not collected within two weeks of the sale date
will be held in storage and charged at the rate of £5+ VAT per lot per day. Please contact us if you require special arrangements to be made regarding storage.
