A Japanese stirrup (Abumi), made of iron with tri-lobed front and curved footplate, overlaid with silver in a design incorporating chrysanthemum flowerheads part submerged in swirling water and giving way to a geometric pattern on the underside, pierced suspension limb similarly adorned and with recess for the buckle tongue, red lacquered interior, possibly Edo period.
