An Ivory Netsuke of Daruma, the figure completely enveloped in a cloak bearing engraved tendrils, his comical face peering out from beneath the cowl, the eyes inlaid, the base strangely recessed, signed to the back in an irregular reserve Hidemasa, 19th century. It is possible the recessed base made this piece usable as an ashtray netsuke.
