A collection of silver boxes, comprising: a mid 19th century Chinese export snuff box, two character marks, the cover and base chased with scroll foliage, 4.8cm wide; a mid 19th century rectangular scroll filigree card case, unmarked, engraved ‘The gift of Ellen Hannah Augt. 12th 1845’ and a monogram, 9.5cm (3.75in) high; an early Victorian silver gilt rectangular pencil case, maker’s marks incomplete, London 1843, engine turned, containing five (of six) pencils, 7cm (2.75in) long; a William IV rectangular snuff box by William Simpson, Birmingham 1835, 6cm wide (worn); a Victorian plain slim vesta case by Sampson Mordan & Co., London 1885, engraved ‘F.B’; a George III circular plain pill box by Thomas Phipps & Edward Robinson, London 1809; and an Italian silver coloured and labradorite oval box, recent (7).
