A George II silver hot water jug by Thomas Whipham II and Charles Wright, London 1757, with wrythen finial, gadroon edge to plain bellied body engraved a crest, with woven cane handle, 26cm (10.25in) high, l 591g (19oz) gross weighable silver. The arms accollee of CLIVE and BOLTON for the marriage of George Clive of Mountclave, Roehampton, MP, Bishop`s Castle (1763-79) married (1 June 1763) to Sydney, daughter of Thomas Bolton of Knock, Louth and nephew of Dr Thomas Bolton, Archbishop of Cashel. The Clive arms are charged with a two-generation cadency mark showing his consanguinity with Robert, 1st Lord Clive (Clive of India). Provenance: Clive
