A pair of George III silver circular entree dishes by Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp, London 1785, of plain form with lion mask and drop ring handles, the bases with gadroon edge, the lobed lids fitted flower bud form finial, the lid and body both engraved with a crest, incised No.1 and No.3 respectively to base and lid, together with their scratch weights, 24cm (9.5in) overall, 1,762g (88.85 oz), with plated liners. Engraved with the crest of a griffin passant and Scottish-style motto ANDACTER ET SINCERE` possibly for ECKFORD`. Provenance: Clive
