* Wartime Toys. A group of war toys etc., 1930s-1940s, including large scratch built tinplate and wooden “pull-along” heavy tank, camouflage painted with swivel turret etc, together with a quantity of lead and slush-cast toys of soldiers, aeroplanes figures and accessories, including Britains and other makers etc, also with tinplate clockwork motor car, Light Tank, also with aviation cigarette-cards, albums, card-games and related juvenilia. The scratch built toy tank was made for Quentin Bland, the son of local post-master at Grafton Underwood in Northamptonshire, where USAF Bomber Group was stationed - he used to visit the air-base and was befriended by ground-crews and pilots who fabricated this to for him as a Christmas present c. 1943.
