Esmond's play 'Grierson's Way' that Beerbohm had just attended: "there was a real and very realistic baby in the play - not the doll I had hoped for - and the whole audience crowed with delight so long as it was on the stage, despite its tragic significance", three pages, folded, approx. 95mm x 150mm, faint horizontal fold 'Grierson's Way' by H.V. Esmond opened at the Haymarket Theatre on 7th February 1899, the day prior to this letter being written.
