Three: Able Seaman R. A. Strickland, H.M.S. Tipperary, Royal Navy, who was killed in action at the Battle of Jutland, 1 June 1916 1914-15 Star (SS.5547, R. A. Strickland, Ord., R.N.); British War and Victory Medals (SS>5547 R. A. Strickland. A.B. R.N.) good very fine (3) £200-£240 --- The destroyer H.M.S. Tipperary was launched on 5 March 1915 and was the flotilla leader of the 4th Destroyer Flotilla at the Battle of Jutland, where she was sunk with the loss of 150 of her crew. Robert Arthur Strickland was born in Preston, Lancashire, on 27 November 1895 and joined the Royal Navy as an Ordinary Seaman on 11 March 1915. He served during the Great War in H.M.S. Tipperary from 2 June 1915, and was promoted Able Seaman on 17 May 1916. He was killed in action at the Battle of Jutland, when the Tipperary sank with the loss of 150 out of her crew of 197, and is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial.

If you live within the UK, items will be despatched using Royal Mail Special Delivery. If the item/s being sent are worth under £1000 in total they are sent using Royal Mail’s Signed For International service. This ensures the item must be signed for when it is delivered.
