Chinese Thai Porcelain Teapot, Rama V Monogram

Chinese underglaze blue porcelain teapot meant for the Thai market, late 19th century, the globular body decorated with columns of King Rama V monograms, while bands of bats encircle the base of the mouth rim and foot, the recessed base with a square cartouche, the upper fitted with a copper alloy handle, the lid decorated ensuite with the monograms and bats, 7.5``h; Provenance: Unaccessioned items from Honolulu Museum of Art; NB: for similar pattern see `Emerald Cities: Arts of Siam and Burma, 1775-1950`, San Francisco, 2009, pg. 214
