Chinese Thai Porcelain Teapot, Fruits and Monogram
Chinese underglaze blue porcelain teapot meant for the Thai market, late 19th/early 20th century, embellished with the Three Auspicious Fruits (peach, pomegranate, and Buddha hand citron) to the globular body and with five bats framing the spout inscribed with a monogram of King Rama V, the recessed base with a cartouche, and fitted with a copper alloy handle, together with a lid decorated ensuite, 7.5``w; Provenance: Unaccessioned items from Honolulu Museum of Art; NB: for similar pattern see `Emerald Cities: Arts of Siam and Burma, 1775-1950`, San Francisco, 2009, pg. 214
