Oscar Niemeyer (1907-2012) was a Brazilian architect and one of the most influential figures in modern architecture. While primarily known for his architectural works, Niemeyer also designed furniture pieces, often characterized by his signature organic forms and minimalist aesthetic. The coffee table designed by Oscar Niemeyer for Tepperman Brasile in the 1970s showcases his distinctive style and attention to detail. Featuring an Aegean marble top and ebonized wood legs, the table embodies a harmonious blend of natural materials and sleek design. The choice of Aegean marble for the tabletop adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the piece. Known for its elegant veining and timeless beauty, Aegean marble exudes a sense of opulence and refinement, elevating the aesthetic appeal of the table. Complementing the marble top are the ebonized wood legs, which provide a striking contrast and add visual interest to the design. Ebonized wood, a technique that involves treating wood with a solution to darken its color, creates a rich, deep finish that enhances the overall elegance of the table. Niemeyer's coffee table is a testament to his mastery of form and proportion, with its balanced composition and graceful lines exuding a sense of understated sophistication. It serves as a functional piece of furniture while also making a statement as a sculptural work of art. As with many of Niemeyer's designs, the coffee table reflects his belief in the integration of architecture and design, where every element serves a purpose while contributing to the overall harmony of the space. It is a timeless piece that continues to captivate with its timeless elegance and enduring appeal. width 145 cm height 70 cm
