A SMALL COLLECTION OF EIGHT SILVER-INLAID (BIDRI) VESSELS
BIDAR, DECCAN, INDIA, 17TH-19TH CENTURY
Comprising a rare 17th century tray, on four feet, worked as an elongated lobed cartouche, the inlaid decoration consisting of three central floral blooms on interlocking floral ground, surrounded by vertical bands of stylised flowers, the gently sloping lobed rim with further simplified decoration; a spittoon, a carpet weight (mir-i farsh), each of typical form with floral designs; four huqqa bases, the first, bell shaped, with vertical bands of floral scrollworks, the others with dense floriated decoration arranged within a wide central register; and a lidded bowl, on short conical foot, of rounded form, the silver inlaid decoration with repeating dense floral sprays
The tray 12 ¼in. (31cm.) across; the larger huqqa base 8in. (20.4cm.) high; the spittoon 3 1/8in. (7.9cm.) high; the carpet weight 5 ¾in. (14.7cm.) high; the bowl 5in. (12.7cm.) high; and 5 1/8in. (13cm.) diam.
