WENDINGEN -- WIJDEVELD, H. Th. (1885-1987, editor). Wendingen. Series 1-12 (all published). Amsterdam: Architectura et Amicitia, 1918-1932. 144 numbers in 116 issues. Illustrations throughout. (Occasional light spotting, occasional light wear and occasional light soiling.) Original illustrated boards [for 61 issues] and original illustrated wrappers, stab-stitched with various threads as issued (occasional rubbing and light wear, a few with some browning, a few small repairs). Provenance: a few bookplates (e.g. 'Rueb' in issue 5.6; 'A.S.A. Struik' in issue 8.5); a small number of inscriptions (e.g. issue 5.1).

A COMPLETE SET OF THE PERIOD'S MOST REMARKABLE AND INFLUENTIAL ART PERIODICAL, WITH MORE THAN HALF THE ISSUES IN THE VERY RARE DELUXE VERSION, including the El Lissitzky and Eileen Gray issues. These deluxe issues were bound in hardcover, often printed on finer paper, and in some cases with specially-designed endpapers; they were issued in small numbers of about 100-200 copies for early issues, but quickly reducing to about 50 copies for later issues. They are very rare at auction. Offered with: the special Frank Lloyd Wright issue (English version) published in 1926, bound in linen; the special De Klerk issue published in 1925, bound in cloth; and paper-bound versions of three issues found in hardcover in the set above: issues 3.7, 4.5, and 6.7. Most issues in this set reproduced in Le Coultre, Wendingen, New York: 2001. (120)
