ROLEWINCK, Werner (1425-1502). Fasciculus temporum. Venice: Erhard Ratdolt, 8 September 1485. 2° (297 x 206mm). Collation: [*8, a-g8, h10]. 74 leaves (8 not numbered, 1-66 numbered), 3 columns in table, 59 lines and foliation, gothic letter, 2 large ornamental initials, 59 woodcuts, one full-page, woodcut diagrams. (Very light, mainly marginal waterstaining, a few small single wormholes, light marginal finger-soiling.) Modern old-style calf by C. McCleish (extremities lightly rubbed). Provenance: 'Pertence a livraria do Collegio de Coimbra' (17th-century manuscript inscription in Portuguese) – 9-line section concerning Pope Joan crossed out with ink, with manuscript reference to Robert Bellarmine in margin) – occasional old manuscript annotations in margin – Albert Ehrmann (bookplate) – BROXBOURNE COPY (label on rear pastedown, Sotheby’s sale, 9 May 1978, lot 645).

The chronology follows a double time-line, measuring time from both the Creation and the birth of Christ, demanding a remarkably complex typographical layout.
