NICHOLAS II – KRIVENKO, V.S. (editor). Les Solennités du Saint Couronnement. [Koronatsionnyi sbornik, posviashchennyi koronatsii E. I. V. G. Imperatora Nikolaia II.] St. Petersburg: Expedition for the Preparation of State Papers, 1899. 2 parts in 1 vol., 2° (438 x 320mm). Illustrated throughout with over 170 full-page illustrations, including the folding menu, some of these chromolithographs printed in various colours and gold, some double-page or folding, the photographic illustrations complete with the printed tissue guards. (Occasional marginal soiling, a few short marginal tears.) Original cream leather binding, the spine and front cover blocked in various colours and gilt, and complete with the metal portrait medallion, edges gilt, endpapers printed in silver and gilt (rebacked reusing the original cloth spine, extremities rubbed, sides scuffed, some wear to the endpapers, some tissue guards lacking or worn). Provenance: a Russian collection (remnants of an engraved bookplate incorporating the arms of Russia on the front endpaper).

FIRST EDITION. The French issue of Nicholas II's coronation album, a lavish publication, which opens with a survey of the coronations of Nicholas's predecessors; it is illustrated throughout with views of the ceremony, reproductions of the menus and programs of festivities, and photographic portraits of noble families and dignitaries in attendance.
