Lots marked * are from Menethorpe Hall, Malton, North Yorkshire, on instructions from Sir Nicholas Brooksbank. Built in the 1880’s by Henry Francis Dent, the hall was until recently the home of the Brooksbank family. A notable family forbear was Stamp Brooksbank, Governor of the Bank of England between 1741 and 1743, who inherited Healaugh Manor near Tadcaster from his father in 1726 and of whom Sir Nicholas Brooksbank is a direct descendant. When Healaugh Manor was demolished in 1947, the family moved to Menethorpe Hall.
